Vini Kumar
Managing partner Vini Kumar joined Hilborne, Hawkin & Company in the Sultanate of Brunei. In 1989 Mr Kumar moved the law firm from Brunei to Southern California, where it has remained since.
Mr Kumar's work focuses on the management of the firm as well as the protection of Intellectual Property rights, with an emphasis on the Pacific Rim, Southeast Asia and the former British Territories.
Mr Kumar received his law degree in London and is admitted to practice in Singapore, East Malaysia, Brunei, Hong Kong, England and Wales. Additionally, he is a certified Legal Consultant in the State Bars of California and New York.
Todd Bates
Todd Bates joined Hilborne, Hawkin & Co. as a partner in 2007. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced for numerous years at the law firm of White & Case LLP in Los Angeles, where his practice focused on complex commercial matters and intellectual property disputes involving copyright, trademark and e-commerce. Mr. Bates also brings to the firm his experience representing some of the world’s largest multi-national companies in domestic and global matters. He currently oversees the firm’s foreign and U.S. intellectual property clearance, prosecution and anti-infringement practices.
Mr. Bates graduated from the University of Southern California School of Law in 1998. He is a member of the California Bar and is admitted to practice before all California State Courts, the Southern, Central and Northern Federal District Courts, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. He is also a member of INTA and the ABTL.
Heather Anderson
Ms. Anderson is responsible for the registration and maintenance of both United States and international trademarks for more than 1,200 clients. She specializes in developing international strategic protection plans, filing and prosecuting trademark applications, and managing client’s IP portfolios, including drafting and recording license and assignment agreements.
Ms. Anderson has substantial experience in coordinating worldwide trademark filing programs for industry-leaders in the pharmaceutical, software, high-tech manufacturing and online retail fields.
Ms. Anderson became a member of the California Bar in December 2000.
